Low diesel fuel pressure

Have a SWDR9. It"s not used for farming.Just looking pretty and going for a ride two or three times a month on a five mile jaunt through the countryside.Last year I noticed the fuel gauge on the pump staying in the red even at a very high idle.Changed both filters cleaned the water trap, bled the air out still it barely goes into the white operating range at full throttle. Now let me add that there has never been any problem with power or any missing.I even pulled at the local county fair and did pretty good.I"m thinking faulty gauge. It"s still the same ayear later.Don"t want to spend fifty bucks on a new gauge if it may be somthing else.Pump ready to go? Or is this a case of "If it ain"t broke don"t fix it"? Just hate to see that needle in the red. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Borrow another gauge to check it. Those tend to get stiff. Also of note is that many injection primary pumps were later changed to produce less pressure, many are 35 to 40 PSI.
