Found the problem this morning on my 130.
Broken steering gear woodruff key.
Awesome.....easy to fix.

(quoted from post at 22:02:33 07/29/12) Great that you didnt need any more new parts.

How much slop did you have and what kind of slop was it? I'd like to know because that would "Help" me diagnose the problems with my Farmalls of the same type that have slop. At least it might give me an idea of what kind of slop that causes and how much.

Does anyone know why your worm gear is only 11 teeth instead of the 28 listed in the manual?

The "slop" on my 130 was actually intermittant. i.e
the woodruff key is broken in such a way that
sometimes it would drop back into place and the
steering would seem normal. probably affected more
in one direction.
As far as the 28 teeth, that has to be a typo. I"ve
got a good original parts manual, but I have seen a
couple typos in it.

28 probably the number of teeth it would have if it were a complete circular gear instead of just a sector gear as this one is. The tooling and cutting process is selected for a 28 tooth count gear.
