Polishing Compound

I put the final coat of paint on the sheetmetal of my '44H yesterday and it turned out better than I ever expected (looks like a new car at the dealership). How long should I wait before using any polishing compound (do I even need to?) and what brand do you recommend. Also, I am going to wait until next weekend to put on the decals, is that long enough to wait?

Polish is abrasive. If it is shiny, leave it alone. Abrasive could be ok if there are spatters or imperfections, but they break that original skin. Jim

If you want to do anything wait a few weeks polish it with Marquirers car wax. Get it from parts store and is the best I ever used. Get threw using the tractor, pull it up wash it off with a hose. Shine comes right back.

You can use polish anytime you want to if you used hardener. But wait a few months before you use wax. If there are abrasives in the "polish" it is not polish but a compounding product. You do not want to use that unless you color sand it. Obviously it does not need sanding. If you are satisfied with it leave it alone.
