h4 magneto puller

I wanted to try and make a puller to remove the paw plate on a model H4 magneto. Can anyone tell me what size the threaded hole is in the plate. I thought it was a 9/16 NF. My tap won't screw in.
I'm starting to think the threads must be metric?

it's the national special thread I believe

it's a 9/16-24 national extra fine with a hole to clear the shaft 7/16 diamater about 1/4 deep and a fine threaded bolt to push the shaft.

have one he made, and he did a great job on them. Same puller is also used on J4 (cub) magnetos
