My buddy has a 544 gas that he is putting a head gasket on and needs to know the bolt tightening sequence and torque value. Also are the head bolts TTY or can you reuse them. Can someone please e-mail me a picture [email protected]

Just work from center out in about three increments up to 95 ft lbs torque. At that light torque those bolts can be reused several times. It is the higher torque used on the diesels with the same size bolts that you need to be concerned about new bolts.

My IH manual for the C175 and C200 engines lists torque at 85 - 95 ft. lbs.

It also has the following torque sequence and instructions.

<--------- Front of engine---------
10 - - - 6 - - - 2 - - - 3 - - - 7 - - - 11

9 - - - - 5 - - - - 1 - - - - 4 - - - - - 8

Torque all of the cylinder head bolts in two steps and in proper sequence.
Torque first to 65 ft. lbs. then retorque to the full torque or 90 ft. lbs.
Back off 1/2 turn one bolt at a time (in lengthwise rows) and then retighten
to 90 ft.lbs torque. Adjust the valve lash.

Thanks Guys,I usually hang out in the Case forum, but don't know much about the IH side. I guess that makes us kissin cuzins, though.
