The oil pan keeps leaking on my M-V. I put in a new pan gasket, it seemed to help for a little while. I checked and the bolts are all tight. someone told me me that they had heard the H and M had problems with the oil pans warping. is ths true. Any help would be great. Thanks Tom

if it was my machine i would clean the gasket surfaces really well, then apply black RTV, it will conform to any warped surface you may have.

I've never seen one that didn't leak a little, although I have gotten very close. About all you can do is make sure the bolt surface on the pan is flat. And only tighten the bolts until they are snug. Having a leak and trying to lose it by tightening more has never worked for me. Some will tell you not to use the gasket and use Permatex instead, which may (or may not) fill some of the imperfections.

Tom I always make sure the pan where the gasket goes is stright and them I put a very thin coat of black RTV and then set the gasket and when I bolt it up I just snug the bolts and not ovet tighten. works for me.
