farmall 230 with or without pto

Yes a 230 could be had "pto delete".The only proof is once we had a SC that was factory"pto delete. My Friend in Kansas had a 756Farmall that was also factory pto delete.I raelly believe you could order any tractorjust about anyway you wanted it.Lots of the old price books had PTOs,hitches, other options all priced separately.

(quoted from post at 01:31:37 07/23/12) Proof???

The only thing I can think of is the parts manual that shows a delete plate with part #.

yep, like Dean says,
go to messicks or any IH parts site
search
230 Farmall Gas Tractor
then click 'chassis'
then 'rear frame'
there is your proof in the picture

if your pulling that tractor you will need the original pto delete plate . otherwise they aren't going to believe.

Can someone explain to me what the point of stripping down the tractors is? Sure, you can pull in the lighter classes, but you always LOSE.

Watched a dead weight pull last Saturday. In the 3000lb and 3500lb classes, only the tractors that were "naturally" that light could move the sled. All of the "lightened" tractors just sat on top and spun.

Technically the pto was an option. However, most of the common order codes included the pto, so most new 240's had a pto.
