Wondering if someone has pictures of the regular and vinyl cut decals. I trying to decide which i want for my M. Thanks Kent

You don't need a picture, just get the vinyl cut and be done with them. The Mylar decals should be outlawed. You will be much happier with yourself in the end, by paying a little extra for the vinyl.

Kennell,

If you want a true original look, go with the Mylar decals. The vinyl give a sharper look but the Mylar are more like the original water transfer decals. More important, with either type, depending on the year of your M determine if you need McCormick Deering or McCormick decals. Also, if you want an original type look, definitely do not clear coat your tractor.

The vinyl cut are not original but look ok to me. They are easier to apply and will not fade like mylar. Others have their own opinions. As to clear coat, I switched to base clear two tractors ago, and am never going back, but if Harold means not to clear the decals, I agree with him. There is a person on the paint forum who clear coats vinyl cut decals, claims it makes them blend in better, I have no intention of doing that. It "could" cause the clear to lift around the edges, so some say.

My M is a 1946 serial number is fbk140085xi. I'm not sure which it should be? McCormick or McCormick Deering. Thanks for all the info. Kent

IH McCormick Deering, the IH was put in front of the McCormick Deering about the time your tractor was built, it could have been as early as 1945, others say 1946.

Go with the mylar if you want a true restoration. Anything else is a "customization", not a "restoration"

(quoted from post at 14:07:14 07/22/12) How does Mylar make a "true" restoration as you put it? They are not original either.

You can get the mylar decals that are licensed by Case-IH, and are labled as such. If it's good enough for Case-IH to put their name on it, it's good enough for me.
