MD Thermostat

Are MD Thermostats generic, or specific for the MD only? Available at Napa, CarQuest, etc?
Should I just take mine in and ask for a match? Thanks, John

Yes M gas and diesel use the same one, Nothing special about them. Just ask for a gas M they will have a easier time locating one of them.

For your reference you can look up both tractors in the online parts book and compare the part numbers. There are about a dozen ways to do it. You can go to the CNH site. I use my dealer's site Triebold Implement, Messicks is a dealer in PA that ships stuff and has online lookup with their list price.

Just be sure you get the thermostat with the long tube. Some will try to sell you a regular automotive type and that will not operate the bypass system IH uses on those tractors.
