will Behlen PS unit fit under hood of MTA?

Just curious if the Char lynn was the only one to fit under the hood of an MTA gas? My 400 gas had a Behlen unit under the hood, didn't know what was different between the two

Are you sure you mean Behlen? The only Behlens I have seen are huge monstrosities (sp) that are out of the hood. The CharLynn is the little guy that fits in the big dimple of the hood.

Behlen units will fit under the hood of the 300, 350, 400 and
450s. I highly doubt it will fit under a SMTA hood since it
wont fit under an M or SM...unless you cut the hood!

Behlen units use a gear motor which is inherently larger than the Charlynn gerotor or geroller torque generators. Unless you have a lot of room under the hood, the Behlen should mount off the steering support in front of the steering wheel. Charlynns are much sleeker and are still in production at Eaton's Shawnee plant (meaning parts are available)... not sure if the Behlen is still built.
