where to find new tinwork

Used only. The only new sheet metal other than fenders are for the A,B,C, and Super series of those models. H and larger you are on your own. Bates Corp does recondition grills -- for $750.

Steiner sells patches for the bottom and the insert. I know OEM used to put a new "bonnet" on the grills. I don't think they do that anymore, but may still sell the part. Sunsdahl sells a die set to repair the grills. I own one for a WD-9, but a different member is borrowing it so I haven't seen it yet. You will want to fix your hood and grill unless they are just plain trash. Don't overlook using regular M hoods and grills to make patches for yours.

I am kinda overstocked on SMTA sheetmetal. I have a surplus original grill and a discontinued repro. I also have a MD hood that can be reconfigured into a SMTA hood.

All my stuff will be high priced because I don't want to be caught short handed and stuck in your position. Sflem is correct in that most any M grill can be rebuilt into a SMTA grill if you still have the donut areas of the original SMTA grill. email is open. There will be sticker shock. May be willing to trade if you can find a IH Model 55 power unit baler. If you are in CA, that deal is off.
