Water pump-heater help

I have been working on my 403 diesel, but it keeps getting hot
within 5 minutes of running. I am attaching two diagrams, one is
how my water pump and oil cooler are hooked up on my 560 diesel,
and the other on the 403, except I have two extra hoses for the
heater. Do I have something plumed wrong on the combine to
cause it to keep getting hot? I see that the diagrams are different.
Should the combine look like the 560, but then what about the
heater hoses? New thermostat and water pump. Thanks for the
help.

OK, my take, you don't want a T between thermostat housing and water pump. That is by pass for circulation before thermostat opens. You want the return hose from heater and oil cooler to use the T at the cast block to bottom of radiator. What have you done to engine. Head gaskets leaking is main cause for overheating on those engines. Maybe you have had that apart, I don't know. But an easy test for head gasket leakage into coolant is to disconnect water pump belt, fill radiator to the very top, start engine and if coolant rises right away you have a combustion leak. Don't wait looking for bubbles as they may be trapped way back in engine . Of course coolant will rise in just a short time like one minute from normal heat so test has to be quick. Rev engine up and down to get maximum pressure in cylinders.

Thanks for the advise Pete! It looks like the head gasket is out and since it seized on me last fall I am sure the rings are no longer all that good either. I bought the engine which had sat for several years, had the pump rebuilt because no one plugged the lines and the injectors tested and put it in the combine. Engine ran good, but my temp gage in the cab must be bad because it said 190 degrees when it seized. I installed an after market electrical gage and it read 190-200 after running for five minutes.
