Does anyone have a name and phone number for a place that sells new fuel injector nozzles for a Super MTA diesel?

Iam asking for an old friend of mine that doesnt have a computer. He had the spray checked on a machine at a diesel shop and the guy told him they were to far gone to rebuild them and he could get new ones ordered in for $198.00 apiece. So i am trying to help him out by asking for contact info. on lower cost injector tips.

(quoted from post at 13:07:42 07/16/12) "No such thing."?

Next you"re going to tell us you don"t believe in Santa Claus!

Ok...they are not readily available from a store. You may be able to go to RPRU and find a set of NOS injectors. Any guesses on cost??? I'm going with $500+.

I needed new valves a couple years back. (I probably needed a new diesel shop no new valves. I went local rather than to Central Fuel) The entire bill for all four was a hair over $800. At first my guess for NOS injectors was around $300, but then I got to thinking of their value in parts. Also, don't forget about RPRU inflation. I was appauled at the overpricing I saw when it was in Madison. I was told to get used to it. That is how pricing works at a national show.

Not that I am aware of. I have priced the snot out of gas start diesel stuff and never saw them. If they can get them for $200 tell them to order them.

We know all to well about prices when it comes to this tractor. He made alot of phone calls and finally found a set of main bearings for $375.I am guessing this was a "good" price for an item thats very hard to find.

Those injection nozzles were pretty crude on those M diesels. The valve in the nozzle can be taken apart and lapped to get a decent sealing surface so they don't leak and the actual spray pattern is the hole in the orfice plate which is seperate. I would doubt that they cannot be put back into service with no noticable loss of performance. They didn't go to a more precision style until the open nozzle in the 450 diesel and I cannot honestly say they ran any better . A precup engine does a really good job of breaking up that fuel once it gets good turbulence when warmed up and up to speed. I used to have a little spacer gauge to get a pretty close opening pressure setting as it is adjustable with a double lock nut on the stem of the nozzle. I think you need to get a hold of an old guy to clean and test them who is familiar with that style nozzle. None around here anymore in the diesel repair shops that is for sure. Got to have the feel for them.

That's what I was thinking when I said I needed a new shop, not new nozzles. I will be sending all my stuff to Central until he gives it up. I still have all four nozzles and I may send the to him with a batch of bad injectors I have sitting around. (in a closet in the house because I can't put something like that outside. )

I agree with you, just couldn't resist a little humor!

NOS injectors are I'm sure even less common than the SMDTA's themselves.

Sometimes you have to figure a work around. For example, remember that 400D I bought a month or two ago? Still in my shop, got the lift pump all apart to replace the seal and found the bushings in the pump a bit more worn than I like. So now I got material on order to make the bushings myself on the lathe. I'll post an update on this little project when I get them done and in. Maybe get some pictures too this time.

Don't call it a lift pump! I got yelled at last time I did. Something about only Deeres have lift pumps. We all know what you meant...
