baught a super MTA and wish to add powersteering. if i want to get supply from the main system should i find a priority valve and put inline from the main pump, or any better ideas besides the aux pump by the governor.

Your best and cheapest setup would be priority valve off the pressure line of your live pump. The seperate pump is another option...one mounts on the side of the governor; ran off the crank pulley and requires cutting the fan shroud. The othe can be fit under the hood in front of the manifold and run off the water pump/alternator belt.

You can have any combo you want but the seperate pump are most commonly used with the charlynn torque generators that will fit under the hood. Behlen is the larger unit that would mount above the gas tank.

I'm going to recommend using a separate pump simply because when you idle the engine down and the priority goes to the steering, you may not have much left to operate the rest of the system. I don't know what the output capacity of the SMTA pump is, but on my 240U with a Char-Lynn TG, I lose enough flow to my 3 point that it will not move below about 1/3 throttle. Dad had a JD 60 with a Saginaw (GM) pump and it worked great with the Char-Lynn TG even at a complete idle and still had all the hydraulics.
