Super C Charging Issue

We have a SC with the OEM 6V postive ground electrical system. A relatively new battery will start the tractor one day after it has been run but not three days after a run. We have checked for frayed wiring and for low resistance between battery terminals with an ohmeter and found meghome resistance with switches off.

Any SC epectrical troubleshooting experience would be much appreciated.

With it charged and one terminal disconnected, check the voltage between the post and disconnected terminal. If more than .15 volts, you have some drain. if not, I suspect a bad cell in the battery. Jim

Like Ted says--check the battery with a hydrometer. All cells should be equal in charge. What does the ammeter show with the engine off?

With the engine running at 1/2 throttle or better
use a volt meter and measure the charging voltage across the battery terminals. Should see about 7 volts. If this looks ok check the specific gravity in each cell as been mentioned.
Should be around 1.270 and if one cell reads 1.100 replace the battery. I would also replace your battery cables with 00 battery cables using soldered ends. Clean all connections until shiny including where the battery is grounded. Hal
