SC engine pistons wrist pins

How can one determine if wrist pins need to be replaced when replacing rings & piston/crankshaft bearings. They have absolutely no play in them.

put the piston flat on a bench and then hold the rod straight up and cock the rod side ways to see if there is up and down movement in the rod bushings. its the bushings in the rod that wear. any movement is basically bushing replacement. this is machine shop work anyhow, as they have to be honed to fit.
best is to just take them to a shop and experienced personal can give you your answer in two minutes when dealing with close tolerances. a person can do a lot of explaining to the untrained eye but nothing like a bird in the hand.

Pins come new with the new pistons. Replace the bushings in the rods and have a shop hone them for a one to three ten thousands clearance.
