Where does the spring go in a 504 carb??

I opened up my carb today to clean out some gunk before priming it, and this spring popped out so quick that I didn't have a chance to see where it came from. I couldn't find any schematics for the carb, but one of the places I thought about putting it back in at was between the needle seat and the float. I thought that maybe that would coushin the float's movement. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

It's been a few years since I had the carb apart on my 504, but I don't think there should be a spring inside. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with better info. Good luck to you.

It's a 504 utility. The spring is about 1/2 an inch long by 1/4 in diameter. It popped out like it was under pressure.

Go to the web site, click on: electronic parts catalog, search for: 504 gasoline, there are 2 carbs shown, ID your carb and look for your springy thingy.

Did you pull the choke shaft out? There may be a small ball and spring that detents the choke shaft. There is one on my 560 and yours may be similar.

Ok I think i have it figured out, well I allready put the spring in anyway. The link that one guy posted was much help. it showed where it should go. When I put the spring in it looked kinda sketchy but it didn't fall out. Thank you all for your help
