Tractor Serial

Hello! My name is Max, and I am restoring a Farmall Super C. The serial plate on it is very roughed up, although I have the serial number. If anyone can get to a database of some sort, or in any way find info on my tractor, I would be very glad. The Number is 19601J. If anyone has any info, it would be much appreciated. Thank You!

You can look it up yourself under research and info, serial numbers to your left. 5 digits is a C, 6 a Super C. Unless someone replaced your seat with an earlier one you have an early C, not a Super C. EXCEPT, the J suffix was not used on the letter series, only on the Super series. I think there is a number missing in your serial.

If your tractor is a Super C is MUST have 6 s/n digits and noted by CNKS. A few things where the C and SC are different are: 1) the fuel tank sits up above the hydraulic unit by a couple inches on the SC, 2) the brake and clutch pedals have a curve in them on the SC and are not straight like on the C, 3) the brake housings are cast pieces with (5) cap screws attaching them to the tractor on the SC instead of formed sheet metal housings on a C, 6) the grill will have an extra wide bar below the bottom cross bar about 2" wide on the SC where the same bar on a C is about the same width as all the others. Also, look for casting codes which are two numbers separated by something that looks like a flat head screw followed by a single letter - these codes appear on almost every large casting on the tractor. The easiest one to locate is on the upper left hand corner of the transmission cover by the clutch pedal next to a part number ending in R1 or R2 usually. Also, right below the forward most spark plug and behind the governor control rod is the engine serial number stamped onto a flat machined surface following the letters FCM. On my Super C the difference between the chassis s/n and the engine s/n is the engine one is 6300 higher. Hope this all helps and post back what you find and if you could provide a couple photos it would certainly help, Hal.
