Framal c Question

I just got a "C" serial Number 5?549(seat) and engine number 55186 and platform casting "t". It is either a parts tractor or a fixer up since the sleeves are full of water and rust. In fixing the rear tires to get them to hold air noticed the left axle moves in & out easy 3/8-1/2". Does anyone know what this means as far as internal problem with the rear end?

1950 C. Could be two things, one is there carrier bearings are shot for the axle. Second the snap ring or bolt (could be either or on the C) has come off or loosed up allowing play. You can see the end of the axles though the PTO assembly when removed, or pull the top cover off.

A sleeve and piston set can be had from CIH or from this site. Replace the sleeves, pistons, rod and main bearings, and do a valve job and you have essentially a new engine. It is up to you.
