Farmall Super H Questions

Hey Fellas, This morning i bought a 54 super H and i have a few Questions, first off its got the double Bevel rims that are nice and solid but in the past someone got carried away with a tire iron trying to get the tire off on a couple of places on each rim, is there an easier way to straighting the edge out without having to attempt to beat the nnalert out of it? or should i start hunting for some other ones? Second are the Gas tanks for H's and Super H's the same? i think they are but im not sure, because mine's full of varnishy rust and has a decent dent on the top...and the last thing, will the belt pulley assembly off of an H fit on a Super? mine doenst have one and would like to put one on it if itll work..thanks for any help.

Drop center rims/hubs are correct for the Super H, you have them off a 300/350 and the alike. There is a bead repairing tool out there looks like a bar with a 'mouth' on it, of you can fab your own with a piece of flat stock and a grinder.

For the tank, the Stage II Super H uses a different fuel tank. The tank itself is really the same but the outlets are set in a different location to accommodate the hydraulic system. Take the tank to a radiator shop and have them boil it out.

The belt pulleys are the same H/ SH and will switch over just fine.

To straighten the bead a large (18" or bigger) crescent wrench is almost effortless and does not leave as many marks as hammering it will.

As Zach stated a large adjustable wrench will prolly straighten the rim edge fairly well. As far as the tank, we usually put some pea gravel in "em shake them around good, them muratic acid, slosh that around good, then buy a quart of Kreme tank liner, put in more than you need, spin the tank until it"s all coated, then drain the rest back into your can for reuse, let it harden and you are good. Far as the dent; you can drill it and try to pull it but they are pretty thick, I"d be tempted to bondo it. Pete

Just thinking here... has anyone tried a PDR (paintless dent repair) guy for taking dents out of a tank? They can do some pretty amazing things with car dents and get to places you wouldn't think they could reach. Then do the tank cleaning and lining that Pete suggests after the dent is removed.

Unfortunately the gas tank is made from substantial material, not the pop can tin that car and truck bodies are made from these days. PDR works on that paper thin material, but won't touch the gas tank.

I've been told that you need a stud gun and slide hammer to pull the dents. Of course you want to empty the gas, remove the tank, and rinse it well inside with soapy water to purge enough of the vapors out that it is no longer explosive.
