Farmall Super A.... electrical question

I changed over my super A from 6 volt to 12 volt...alternator, new coil, new points and left the old spark plugs in (NAPA guys told me no change in the plugs) The tractor runs rough and coughs for about 15 minutes until it warms up....then runs fine. Possibility that I have carb issues but the roughness of running started after I changed over to 12 volt...any suggestions?

Very simple trouble shooting should tell you what is wrong. Check your spark and make sure it is a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more. If it does not do so then you may have the points set wrong gap should be 0.020. If you have good spark then pull the carb drain plug and let the gas flow for a few minutes and be sure to catch it for 2 reasons. #1 to check it for dirt/rust/water and #2 to be able to use it

My first thought is that the points are not gapped correctly. A problem in spark can look like a lean mixture issue.
