I recently bought a 674 Int. diesel tractor. The temp. gauge has never read and I grounded the wire that connects to the temp.sensor, which moved the gauge to the far right of the gauge. So I decided it needed a temp.gauge and replaced it, still no reading.I am wondering if the thermostat is defective,opening early and not allowing pressure to build up, in order to give a proper reading or is the rad plugged? Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

If you grounded the wire to the sender and the gauge pegged that means the gauge is ok,the sender is probably bad.
