F20 Starter Kit - replace Ring Gear

What's the best option to replace the ring gear on an F-20? I bought an extra engine for the starter parts, but the teeth on the ring gear are gone for several inches. I took the flywheel in to have it resurfaced and they offered to remove the ring gear. Unfortunately that meant cutting it off, so there's no option to rotate it on the flywheel. Though I suppose it could be welded...

I have a Farmall M ring gear that is almost identical, except the bevel on the teeth is on the opposite side from the original on my flywheel. Can I use the M ring gear as is? Or do I need to grind bevels on the correct side of the teeth so the starter drive can engage correctly?

Or are there any other options?

Cutting it off? Good grief, don't repair shops know
anything any more? Yes an M gear will work. don't
worry about the bevel.

All it takes is some heat and it will fall off. What kind of a shop that doesent know that. Just fire up the torch and go around for a few times and it will fall off. Heat the new one and it will fall rite on.
