F20 Rear Felt Seal

I have looked through all the books, searched this site and puzzled over my F20 --- but still cannot figure out where to place the rear felt seal on the crankshaft. Also, I took this picture to show a tin shield that I believe is called a felt retaining shield, but not sure if it goes in the way show in the picture or flip it over the other way. When I took these apart, the felt was long gone. Maybe to help build the mouse nest that filled the bell housing.

Here's the photo .

No, the tin ring is just an oil deflector. It goes
behind the seal. The seal itself goes in that cast
cap lying on the table and runs against the flywheel
race.

This should help (F30 pic, the same only yours is smaller) The seal goes in the cast seal retainer between it and the steel keeper ring. Looks like your old one is still in there. It runs on the flywheel, not the crank. Fully soak it with oil before installing the flywheel

Boys I have another option for the rear crank seal if interested. The felt seals we are getting today do not fit like they should. What I have will seal great and you dont have to worry about rolling the felt when installing. A lot of trouble to find out when you get done and start the first time you have a leak. Contact me if you wish.
