Check out the photos.... we removed one at a time to make sure we get everything painted and so we could "work" each rail again. They look great!

Picked up the rims today, local old time tire shop in the mounting and he did amazing! zero damage to powder coating, looks perfect.

Let me Hijack this thread. When and where did these rims first appear for IH? On the 350/400/450?
I have a 350 with these rims.

Not sure.... but these were the original rims on this tractor.

They had some damage from calcium at the valve stem area, we had them repaired and now the look great.... just wanted to keep them, after paying for repairs, sand blasting, and powder coating not really sure that was smart but it's what I wanted. The local ol' time tire shop did a amazing job with installation, looks PERFECT.

Hundred series. They changed the centers midway through the series but they both took the double bevel rims.

Definitely a study in, "If it's worth doing, it's worth OVER doing." This tractor is going to be priceless when it's complete.

sflem849's got it. The double bevel rims appeared on the 300/400 tractors. I'm not sure but I think a few of the very early 400s still had the old drop-center style.

You can tell from a distance on a Farmall by counting the holes in the center of the hub. 6 holes means drop-center. 8 holes means double-bevel.

(quoted from post at 06:42:04 07/04/12) 350/450, possibly late 300/400, I have never seen a direct answer about this.

That's what I have heard. Every early 400s had drop centers or at 6 hole centers with double bevels.

Wouldn't there be a serial number break in the parts book? And then a sub/will work for?

Edit - Looks like they show both in the 400 parts book. 312 shows what appear to be drop center rims with 6 hole centers. Then page 314 shows 44" with 6 hole centers. THEN below that they have 38" double bevel rims with 8 hole centers.

On the super side...sorry for the hijack Colby, but we all know you like this just as much as we do. This was also the time when they got a brain and used keystock rather than cast keys in the clamp and hub.

Honestly we wanted something REAL nice, and after looking at other projects we thought let make this REAL nice.... something to remember when you see it.

Been long road, but we are close...

When your all done with it, the 560 will be a museum quality piece. All the parts really turned out nice what you've shown us so far.

It's exciting to have a project like this, even more glad to get it finished up! We have nearly everything, picking up tractor Saturday.

Great looking paint job, wished mine looked similar! I have a 55 400 and I have eight holes and double beveled rims just like those.

Just glad I decided to re-do these rather than buy new ones.... they turned great, not "new" perfect shape but VERY nice. Tire guy did very well with mounting tires, he wire brushed the edges super clean before mounting.

Saturday morning at body shop we are going to mount rear weight 4x, and rear wheels before we load.... can't wait to see it!

Shop line from PPG..... works great!

They hoods & fenders we put clear coat on them, but the rest of tractor no clear.

Why are you glad you redid them as opposed to buying new rims?

$$$ I would have been better off to buy new, but I could not get exactly like the original ones.

they turned out nice.... glad we kept original ones.

(quoted from post at 19:55:12 07/06/12) tractor is DONE and ready for pickup tomorrow 10:30AM!!!

I could be down there by then. Want me to head out?

No...I have to bale straw today. Maybe we can actually do it today. We quit at lunch time yesterday because it was so unbearable.
