Farmall Super H Runs Then Quits And Won't Start

We have a 54 super h farmall that always started and ran perfect is 6 volt it will start and seem to run fine but after a minute to three minutes it will quit and not restart for like least a hour any ideas on what to check?

Trouble shooting 101 The moment it stops check spark. It needs to be a blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more. If it does not have spark hot wire it as in run a wire from the ignition side of the battery to the coil I am guessing it has a distributor. Then check for spark if still no spark probably a bad condenser. If you have good spark check for gas flow by pulling the drain plug out of the bottom of the carb and let it flow for a few minutes. Catch it so you can look at it for dirt/rust/water. No flow then work back to find where you loose it

Not that quick.

1-3 minutes is about how long it takes for the engine to drain the carburetor bowl of fuel.

Sounds like maybe your float or needle is sticking in the carburetor.

How long since you last cleaned out the sediment bowl??

With the fuel on remove the drain plug on the carb & catch what comes out in a large coffee can, tap the side of the carb with a large screwdriver handle, this should dis-lodge any trash in the needle & seat, turn the fuel off & replace the drain plug.Turn the fuel back on & after a few minutes fire it up.
Next time it dies, get off & lay your hand on the coil, if it is too hot to touch, the coil has gone bad, if it is just as warm as the engine, then I;ll bet you have a fuel starvation issue.

Try turning out the main jet screw (at the front on the bottom of the carb) a turn or two, if this helps you should check the stand pipe in the gas tank for clogging with rust or trash, then the sediment bowl & screen(clean it), remove the fuel line at the carb, remove the brass bushing the fuel line screws into and replace or clean the brass screen there, remove the carb bowl ( will need a new gasket) clean it out and check (clean or replace) the needle & seat, set the float ( I believe it is fuel level 9/16, float height 1-5/16), remove the two jet screws & squirt some carb cleaner such as Berryman's chemtool in through the jets to clean them, then install the bowl with a new gasket.
This should solve any fuel starvation problems.
