gas tank sealer

What is a good sealer to put inside a gas tank and where can I get it. I have a leaky tank on my W30 which I patched outside but I'd like to seal the inside to keep gas away from the patch.

I use Red Kote. I bought it from a supplier on ebay. It is around $25 a quart. One quart will be enough for two coats on a W30 tank. Remember, proper cleaning of the inside of the tank is ESSENTIAL for the sealer to adhere and do it's job.

That's what I used. Mine didn't seem to cure well. I think it might all be gone. I let it sit for at least a week before I put gas in the tank and the gas still came out red.

For the recored they switched the name to Northern Fuel Tank Liner and it is now green. Same exact stuff, same exact company but a different color.

What Kirk said. And yes the gas will be red for a tank or two, but the tractor will run fine.

(quoted from post at 21:12:43 06/30/12) Haven't tried it yet, but I just got a sealer kit from KBS Coatings and ordered it online here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/tank-sealers.html

I liked that it was a kit that had some prep chemicals and that they had a couple videos on how to do it. I'll be doing my tank later this week.

You can buy the prep chemicals at Menards for about $1 per gallon. I was happy to buy my own.

I have had good luck with Red Kote. I think the key is having an opening on the bottom of the tank when letting it cure. The solvent vapors are heavier than air and will just sit in the tank if only open at the top. Open at the bottom and the vapors just flow out. I let the stuff cure for a week or better and the solvent order will be almost 100% gone.

I'd only seal it if you have to to stop any leaks. I've don't 3 tanks with redkote. I've only had limited success. My H was done for me by a radiator repair shop and it turned out fine. I built a tank for my 4wd and had the same shop steam clean it and I coated it and I've found some red flakes in the fuel filter. The third was for a M2 Gleaner and about every other day during wheat harvest I was disassembling the fuel system and blowing coating out of the fuel lines. That one was done by professional shop also. None of these tanks had leaks, it was just done as a precaution.
