McCormick 37 Baler

Depends on who you talk to. Some people have had good luck with older IH balers (I'm one with a model 46) and others have had night mares. If its in good shape and price is right and you can work on them then I'd get it but buy the manuals as soon as possible. If you can get the knotters right they will bale a lot of hay. Trick is getting the knotters right.

#37 wasa an excellent light to medium capacity bailer. As long as you did not try to push it too hard it would give excellent service. It was not a heavy duty high capacity bailer

Well, I've got a 45 baler and it was always an excellent machine. It did start to develop some knotter trouble, but that was after decades of work and hundreds of thousands of bales. My Dad always used to set the knotters, so I hope I'll be half as good at it in future years as he is.
