Ok guys....

Dropped of tractor today, they have lots of prep to do but it's there. They are removed frame rails to get smoothed, etc etc

Had the drawbar rebuilt, turned out nice :)

Also had custom plate made that goes between 1st front weight and tractor frame, it's designed to mount the shackles. Also having the a pair mounted to the Y on the 2pt hitch.

Most likely we will NOT make RPRU this year, but we'll bring it next year :) We are planning to run down though and check out the show.

Most all parts are here and ready to go, CANT wait!

thx... SO much is done.

Honestly it feels like we are way over the hill :)

Waiting for few special project to come back... intake & exhaust manifolds are done just need to pick them up and my little chrome project will be done and back soon.

Looks good. Why does it seem like everybody puts the wheel castings on dish out? It's not like they will tip over just driving around. Both our MD and H are dish in set for 30" rows. They load a lot easier to get more tractors on the load too.

not sure about the wheels.... we have always had them that way.

actually the other ones i have then in use, were also set that way.

did have to get wide trailer to haul it around

Don't put 4 coats of red paint on those axles. You will pay the devil trying to adjust the wheels. Mask them and leave them unpainted. Then in final touch up shoot them a LIGHT coat of CastBlast or whatever flat color from a rattle can, real thin coat.

lol.. yep we know that axle trick :)

tractor is getting same paint as sheet metal/fenders.

PPG Shop-Line 2150 red paint... after they epox prime it, will get 4 coats of it.

Are you going to remove all that red paint and light gray primer before you apply the epoxy primer?
The effectiveness of epoxy primer will be vastly reduced if you put it on over another product. It's most effective applied to bare metal. Waste of time and money to put it over paint or regualar primer.
And then it is not used to fill small tin irregularities.

Tractor is getting sand blasted

You do realize the can of worms you just RE-RE-opened, don't you?

Everyone that didn't beat you savagely for saying you were going to sandblast the tractor before, will do it now...

Discretion is the better part of valor. Just say, "Yes, the paint will be removed." :)

Red tinting the primer does nothing except hide the places that the painter misses. Seems like your painter is not familiar at all with PPG paint. 4 coats is overkill. PPG Omni (same as shopline) 71310 covers very well in 3 coats.

CNKS, agree completely with both your statements. We always use contrasting colors of primer/topcoat. Makes it easier to get even coverage. And 4 coats does seem like way to much for a smallish tractor.

I can cover it with 2 coats, the 3rd one is for insurance. And in the out of the way places that I can't really see when I'm painting with my supplied air hood usually result in my 3 coats missing something. Easy to see and easy to repair with the contrasting primer--usually use a touchup gun, or since it's usually cast even a brush for a small place.

You have double bevel rims, also allows you to get it on a trailer with only 82 inches between the fenders.

Some of us simply think it looks better. In my case it is because my dad's H had them dished out and thats the way I remember them. That said, I owned an M from 1993-2012 with dished in wheels, also had about 500 lbs of weights on each wheel, about half on each side -- I had no desire to change them. Reversing them for 30 inch rows is fine.

thanks for all the comments...

My painter today said 4 was overkill too :) honestly most things on this tractor are "overkilled" lol

Just an FYI this paint booth is EPIC, not possible to have a nicer one, huge, mega lights, etc. I'll have pictures during the process :)

Going to set tractor for 36" rows like it was when we had, I like that look. Will have 2x wheel weights per side, and two on front.

Saturday the paint will be removed.... actual owner of this 1st shop is going to do it himself (VERY COOL) and then it will hit the paint booth Monday. Weights, frame rails (will get removed) will get "worked" over one more time before they go red.

Gosh can't believe it... finally we are there!!

You should see the PILE of new parts waiting to go back on... it's awesome

SON !!! (heck).....I am getting anxious MYSELF !! Defintely got it down to bare bones, there MUST be one heck of a pile of pieces SOMEWHERE !!
One thing for sure is, you never run out of opinions here.
It's your tractor, dip it, grind it, sand it.......doesn't matter now...when you get to this point.......YOU JUST WANT TO SEE IT RED!!!......and maybe even together too!!
I remember spending countless hours with a 1/4 inch camel hair brush touching up here and there......you get it out in the sun and DANG IT...there's another spot I missed....where did that one come from??
You have to just learn to say.."WHEN"...That's good enough...
THEN !!!
You start assembly.....you can wear polar bear skin gloves & every piece of padding you can get your hands on, take the most extreme measure of care (after all you want this one RIGHT) and even then some things are still going to get dinged or scratched....extremely painful....but a few strokes of the faithful touch-up brush and it's like it never happened.
With the advent of your recent alliance with your better half, good advice would be to send her & her Mom shopping during any assembly.
Wouldn't want your contemporary dearly beloved to see you reduced to such outrage indoors.

BUT....it's all good....

LOL... thanks!

Yes you can't imagine the pile of parts, it's CRAZY!

:)

Our baby (our 1st) is due 1st week in Sept so to say the least this will be done end of July.

Honestly we have nearly everything already to finish it, but you are right... we all agree to take our time as we have gone this far. Only parts that's aren't here are levers, shifter & hyd levers chromed. Not really sure there is much else we can do here... it's an ALL IN rebuild.

Congradulations on the bambino !!!!!

My first grand daughter is due late Sept early Oct.
Must be a good year !!

All that & a fantastic 560 to boot,
man..you ain't going to know how to act !!
Must be livin right.

Give our best wishes to your better half, a keeper for sure.

thanks we are excited.

Think Mrs is looking forward to this being done, big effort to build this project.

Tomorrow Im going to removed all the red/white parts in our basement, which is her office, lol. Hood, fenders, grill, etc etc are all RED just waiting for installation.

Tractor is getting paint removed tomorrow... I plan to check on it, don't worry I'll get photos.

CAN'T wait... just a few days from RED PAINT!!!!!

HA HA....

Not sure about this years RPRU, but we'll have to just see.

It's coming out of the shop this coming week & we will get to work :)

Been going over the parts, I think we are in great shape but you know how that goes!
