What is this item on Farmall M hydraulic system?

Is this a relief valve or simply a fancy elbow in my 1952 Farmall M's hydraulic system (See yellow arrow)? One line is coming from the distributor pump. It looks like this item comes from the reservoir.

Well, your control rod and lever for the belly pump is missing, so you must have an add-on live hydraulic system.

Trace it out. If that hose comes off the pump up by the distributor, goes past this "fancy elbow" and runs to the IN port on your hydraulic valve, it's a relief valve.

Thanks. I'm trying to understand hydraulics. I've seen "parade ready" Farmalls with plugged (capped) openings and don't understand how the pressure is relieved on those tractors. See photo for what I'm talking about. I'd like to end up using the live hydraulics to power my power steering unit as the Charlyn pump is frozen tight (rusted). I will only need the hydraulics to lift a sickle mower.

Thanks again.
