Power up a Super A

I was wanting to pep up a Super A to about 25-30 hp and to where it is still a functional tractor but do OK at antique tractor pulls.
I"m sure it has the stock block now, probably w/a re-sleeve to what? Maybe 123? Would like to do this as low in cost as possible, but also reliable, useable and competitive or at least fun.
Thank you on suggests as to heads, pistons, etc.

Check your block# as you mite be able to go to 3 1/4 pistons and sleeves giving you 135cu in then do the gov so you can get 2000 rpms then there is the issue with a different head. Mite want to call me 319-430-3907

Speaking from experience... Don't pull with an A/Super A. Been there, done that. Had a Super
A, removed all the weight that I easily could.... just wouldn't pull very good. The offset motor and widefront conspire to make a average puller at best for most folks. If you haven't made the purchase yet, go with the C.

Go with the SC, 200, 230, 240, or 504. The A series was simply not designed with heavy pulling in mind. It was designed for light cultivation. If you power up a C series you can get a lot more bang for the buck and the motor work is basically the same.

Well the reason I want to use a Super A is because I have one and I have a place it will fit in the barn well. I would only pull in an Old Threshers pull once a year, if I even do that. The first tractor I owned when I bought this place almost 40 yrs. ago was a SC and I liked the power and the way it ran at the time, since then the tractors have just kept getting bigger and greener, sorry. I would like to have enough power in it to drag some pastures and drill with, we only crop about 50+ acres wheat or rye and then sudan a year, so won't see much rough service. Actually it's major use will be as a glorified 4 wheeler. I guess the novelty and fun of it are the major thing, if I lose at the tractor pull it doesn't really matter, just for fun and the tractors can not be new than '57.
This may all seem foolish to you all, but it's just fun for an old guy. :0)

Just put in the overbore ((dome piston)) that it for that block and unless you pull a very short chain you will ample power to pull. An overbore in them, with minor head work will push 25hp, 30hp is doable with alittle more work but the price goes up...

Where ever, really parts off of this site are just fine, Unless you want to spend big money and have custom pistons made, the domed pistons on this site are just fine. I have bought a number of kits off this site and have been pleased, with price quality and speed of shipment. Either way its an easy engine to service.

I have, they are tisco's, look very close to the old 'conformatic's' that tisco sold in the 70's era. Very close to a 'fire crater' in compression and performance.
