Well, the day was going OK. Went to work driving school kids all over the place. Took the Scania bus out to the farm. The sun was out today and the ground looked good to drive on… but it wasn't. The bus did not sink, but the surface was just slippery enough that I couldn't move. Farmall H on steel to the rescue! Didn't have the camera, sad to say. Anyway, now I have discovered the pleasures of driving steel wheeled Farmalls. Got to get some steel rear wheels for my M now!

I remember once when I was a young lad dad had to pull the bus out. Backed up to far on a snowy day and dropped the rear axle in the ditch ( our house was the farthest out and thus the turn around point). The mighty H with snow chains to the rescue. Had it out so quick he didnt even have to stop the milkers:)

Saab-Scania was split up (I think in 1995). Scania bacame a stand-alone company with the truck/bus part of the business. Volkswagen is now majority owner of the company.

Scania's largest operation is actually in Brazil, where they make both heavy trucks and busses. Prior to the post-VW restructuring, Scania do Brasil was larger than the Swedish company in terms of vehicles produced. It was established in 1957 and has over 2200 employees.

They are split now. Saab went broke a little while ago, but Scania is going well. They know how to charge for parts though. The bus I drive is a K93 chassis with a body built in Adelaide, South Australia. The bus is 42 ft. 6 inches in length and it really did not look like the Farmall H was big enough to do the job. Happpily no one told the tractor and it just walked away with the bus behind it!
