Purchased a 6900 hour 1486 lsat year to upgrade from our 1466- think we have the bugs worked out and it seems to be a strong runner. Needs tires though- ones on it are worn out. This will be our tillage tractor- pulling a 5x18 White or a 9 shank CIH 6500- challenge is we plow for a dairy farm so it is sloppy- 10,000+ gallons of manure/ acre. Traction is an issue but money is also an issue. Figured have to spring for radials but I will never wear a set out dealer is suggesting BKT rather than Firestones to save $$- any opinions?

Hi GRB054; lots of "tire" talk on other forums seems to have shifted to Quality of tires rather then just cost.. Many tires now seem to have softer rubber that shows a lot of wear under load in just one or two seasons.. Use google?
Try my link to newagtalk and go to machinery and use search for tire posts.. good luck..

Look at this site. They sell good used tires. I ended up buying new from Les Schwab Tires. They came to the farm and put them on, but I looked hard at this out fit. PK

Yeah, tiretown is great, if you live locally.

By the time you run out there with your truck to pick them up, or have them trucked to you, you could have had a local tire shop install brand new ones for the same or less money.

In the last few years, I have bought a few sets of tires. For the M (now on 450) 13.6-38 Titan Hi-power Lug bias. I like 'em. For the 806- Firestone Super All Traction 23* Radials in 18.4-34. Really Like those. Since you're putting duals on and cost is a factor, I'd look into the firestones in a bias ply. They do exist. Same tread pattern as the radials. I've been trying to stay with the USA made tires hoping for better quality. I've heard good and bad with the foreign tires, I decideded to go with tires that I know are good. Since you're doing custom work with it, why take a chance? You won't regret good tires. -Andy
