H Temperature ??

Installed official case-CNH thermostat, and official temperature gage, but the 1950 H only got up to right between COLD and RUN. Never got over to the white arrow.
Removed the Case temp gage, and installed a Hesston (Made in USA) gage that reads actual degrees-F. It runs at 140F to 150F, just running around the farm, doung chores with the carry-all, not pulling or plowing.
Is this OK?
I thought an H was supposed to run 190F?

Do you have a thermostat? My H would run cold when I got it because the thermostat was missing. Now that I have one it will get up to 170 pulling a wagon around or 180-190 pulling a 9' haybine on a hot day.

Mine does the same thing, it is normal. The bypass around the thermostat and the radiator are quite large.

The cooling system is designed to run at the 180-190 range only if working hard. Cover the radiator if you want the temp higher while just idling around.

That is typical. Only time I saw one of my Hs even get close to that was pulling a loaded 250 bushel Killbros grain hopper loaded with soybeans up a hill in 4th. gear with the H grunting very loudly!

Yes, running at full load in the Summer will get the motor HOT. My Farmalls all have kerosene motors, so I just close the shutters in Winter.
