I recently bought a 385 the pto did not work I pulled the pto shifter out and it had the little shear bolt broken, I put a new one in it, know I can't get the pto to stop, when you pull it back you can feel it running against something the only thing I can think of is I have to rotate the stop on the end 180 thanks Pete

Hi Pete, you sure it is a 385 not a 384?
A 385 is supposed to have 3 cyl D-155 engine and 384 has 4 cyl BD-154 with a 4 speed gear shift and Hi/Lo on top of transmission cover.

Hi Pete, the pin you replaced has to fit in a groove in a collar that connects the front PTO shaft to rear PTO shaft. It would appear that the pin is not in the groove and has pushed the collar to engage the PTO but cannot retract the collar to disengage the PTO.

I agree it's not a 385 then....it's a 384. Two totally different tractors as JimB2 mentions.
