Farmall front rim question ????

I have a 1945 Farmall A here with the older style rim, just a plain 15" rim with no lugs welded on, the rim is held to the inner cast iron hub with three friction lugs and bolts, etc. My question is this, will the newer style rim with the lugs welded on the rim work for me? Problem is, I'm working from a distance on this and everything is not right in front of me. Maybe someone here can help.

No, if you have the clamp on style rims you need to stay with that or you will need to find a set of loop hubs to fit loop rims. Not interchangeable.

So the "loop hub" you mentioned is for the rim with the welded on tabs right? I was wondering about trying to cut or disc cut the tabs off, might be messy but this is not a showpiece tractor, the steel outer rim itself should likely be the same I'm guessing? I see it's the same as a rim I have here on a Massey 22 (full wheel type but the outer rim is identical)

They were originally riveted from factory, the aftermarkets are welded. Im not sure what you are trying to do with a massey front. You really have two choices, either go with the a new/used clamp on rim or get the hubs and rims from a SA, 100, 130, Super C, 200 etc. and covert to the loop style. Either other way is just not worth it really.

I have the hubs and probably the rims off an A. It is left over parts from the BA I built due to the fact the A and a tree had a fight and the A lost the battle and the front end engine and torque all got broken in that battle

If you have just a plain rim with no lugs, go to a junk yard and get a 15 inch spare tire rim an chisel the center unit out. Usually fairly easy to chisel out.

Yes, good advice. I'm not messing with a Massey front, I just mentioned that the outer wheel rim on a MH 22 has the exact same rim as this Farmall I have, but the Massey has a center piece riveted in the center area which would have to be removed.

You can knock the tabs/loops off and the rim will fit fine.

If you're buying new just get the correct rim. All you need is a simple blank drop-center rim from the local wheel shop.

No just get a plain one without the tabs. Do you need a new one or have a place to get some. You can get new ones plain from T.H.E. Company. look them up and they will ship to you. You a 3x15 blank. The ones with tab are more expensive.
