Replacement rubber pads on H

Got new replacement rubber pads for radiator and gas tank for my H project. They are tapered, not flat. Which way should they go for correct install, or doesn't it matter? Sorry for trivia question.

All I have ever seen are flat, not tapered. Don't know why they would be tapered.

They were flat to begin with; age causes lots of things to be "slanted"!

They look flat in the Steiner's catalog where I got them, but they really aren't. I got all 5 the same so the hood and radiator and gas tank would align properly (hopefully)

Those pads are pretty easy and cheap to make. Apiece of old round baler belting and an inch and 1/2 hole saw you can a bunch in a hurry.
