hello everyone im new ,can i replace a c-169 engine with 135

hello i have a 1958 ih-330 utility w/c-135 engine w/tA. i would like to install the engine and or t/a into a 1955 ih 300 u c-169 engine ,what if any problems will i run across ,could i split the case and bolt the unit on my 300u axle ? :?:

I'm not sure if that version of the C-135 will bolt up to the 300U parts or not. I know that the 330 was a bit shorter, so even if the major parts bolt up you will have problems with sheet metal and probably other assorted parts.

The real question is why would you want to junk out a rare 330U just to build a messed up version of the relatively commonplace 300U?

I agree with Jim. Don't butcher the 330. The 330 is a much more desirable collector tractor because it was built in small numbers. The 350 is a more popular working tractor because of its power. If you do your project you will no longer have either one.

..hmmm could the better way be to put the pippin back hoe and lord loader on the 330 ..it i just like having the low gear t/a ,my 300 is just a 5 speed and the motor runs good but tired ,and a rebuild is not in the budget....i would let the 330 loose for 1,500 ,but no buyers ...so what do ya think about putting the back hoe and loader on the 330 ,?the 330 front end is not heavy duty like the 300 will the 300 front axle fit ?

(quoted from post at 19:04:01 06/21/12) 1500--where are you?
bangor maine i think they only built 5000 of the 330 tractor ,its complete ,and runs very good ,i will be taking a wrench to it tommorow removing the pto ,fast hitch and fender, but 1500 take it away .

THAT is why you get no takers at 1500... Nobody wants a tractor with no fenders, PTO, or fast hitch. Cost way too much to replace those parts, so what you're left with is a parts tractor.

You're bound and determined to ruin a rare 330. Why?

Those parts will bolt right on the 300, but do you realize how much work it is to switch back and forth from the backhoe/loader to regular tractor? Those aren't quick-attach units. You'll do it once and regret it.

Paint up the 330 and sell it for big bucks. Then you can afford a sleeve/piston job on the 300 and take a lavish vacation.
