This question comes up frequently so I thought I would show my set up. I copied another members mounting method. When I find who it was I will give them credit. Alternator is a close fit to hood and valve cover. I flipped over bracket and made top bracket. Mounted resister up high and used all original wiring to keep the original look. Considered gutting a voltage regulator and running the wires through it for a all original look.
 
That is the original coil, cap, plug wires, etc. on the tractor.
I find it very distasteful to look at one of them car coils on a tractor.
