Int'l 424 Carb needle valve setting

I have purchased a rebuilt carb. for my 424, and boy does it look good. It really looks like a new one.

One thing though is that it has a needle valve instead of the solenoid valve. This is in accordance with the parts book which shows the solenoid valve as an additional item.

I have a new solenoid valve to install but I'm thinking of just using the needle valve instead.

What I need to know is what the initial setting on the needle valve should be. As it came from the supplier the needle is set to one and a half turns open from the seat.

The solenoid is to be set 4 turns open if I use it.

What should the needle valve be set to?

If you replace the solenoid there is NO SETTING on the solenoid ya just screw it into the carb with a new gskt and snug it down and plug and play.

Do not attempt to second guess the guy who rebuilt that carb. Install it just as it is. If the engine stumbles or falters under load, THEN, and only then, should you open that screw 1/2 turn at a time until the stumbling goes away.
