Farmall Regular Narrow - Value?

Hello everyone,

I am a long time lurker on this board, but finally have a question for you guys!

I have been looking around for a Farmall Regular lately and have been offered a 1930 Narrow Tread that was restored about 10 years ago. It has 16" fronts and 24" rears with full-spoke wheels. The seller says that it runs great with no known issues. One interesting thing though is that the serial number doesn't have an N suffix which would denote it as a narrow.

Well, my question is, from your experiences, what prices are regulars selling at lately? Anyone have an idea for the value of this Regular being a narrow tread? There was an auction in my area (In Northeast/Central Pennsylvania) where a 1928 Regular with rubber that looked to be a much older restoration and fading paint went for $1375, but of course this wasn't a narrow tread either.

What do you guys think its worth?

Thanks a lot,
Jan

Edit: Here are also two photos of the tractor.

when the economy was good a few years back that would have been about a 2500-3000 dollar tractor. now its a different story.

out of F-30's, 20's and Regulars i would say the regulars are the harder to find of the 3 in a narrow tread

Certainly NOT your best source of info...

Did see one sell a bit ago on ebay for $1,225 - it was NOT a Narrow Tread and had flat spokes. Nor was is as nicely restored as the one you posted a photo of, and it has a funky pipe added to the potato muffler. These pics are of the ebay tractor - in case that helps you decide a value for the tractor being offered to you.

Anyway, we figure we will easily have $1,800 (maybe 2K) stuck into our 1931 Regular before it is all said and done. [And it is not a Narrow Tread either.] We will leave ours 100% rusty and keep her for as long as we can stay on our farm - so hoping for at least 20-30 more years. We have already had people stop and ask if we would sell it... answer is, "Nope, never - matter of fact never, never" then we smile and so do they.

So if you really, really want one - and you are not wanting to flip it for resale... I would not hesitate to pay whatever it is worth to you if you can afford it. Then treasure it and enjoy!

If you can get it for that price I'd say it's a steal. Just think what it would cost to fix up a junker, plus buying tires. You won't do it at that price!

Well Jan,

I'ts been several months since you asked about the narrow-tread Regular, have you purchased it yet?

If so I would be very interested to hear an aproximate price you were able to settle on.
It is a great looking tractor! Any chance it is a Fairway?

Also was your seller interested in letting go of some of the other regulars or steel wheels in the backgound of your photos?

Hey Reggie, yes I was able to purchase it and was able to finally get it hauled down on the fourth of July! We were able to settle on $1700 which I thought was a fair price and we both seemed pleased with the transaction. As far as I know, it isn't a Fairway, just a normal '30 Narrow. You know, actually he was interested in selling another Regular and perhaps some other tractors (he collects only IH, most of which are F-series and McCormick Deerings and Cases). If you are interested, let me know and I can provide contact information. He was very nice to deal with!

JBann, are you in Northeast, Pa or northeastern PA? I am from Conneaut Lake, and live just south of Butler. I still have my family place Conneaut Lake and am up your way every so often if you live in Northeast.

Tom, I should change my location data! I am actually in Northeastern, PA near Hazleton area. I did not realize there was an actual town called North East in Erie County!
