WD-9 Fender and Platform Tin Id Question

Had anybody seen #7 or #16 on a 9 series tractor? I was looking at the book the other day and can't really think of seeing them.

Here is a shot of the platform on my machine. I assume the tin goes under the PTO to keep the mud off it.

Or they may be used when a pto is not installed. Pto was an option.

I agree with Roger, it is to cover opening on tractors not equiped with a pto.

Makes sense to me. Thing that doesn't make sense is bareback tractors. I can't believe they still make them today. :?
