WD-9 Update Pics and LOTS of what is going on here questions

Spent some time in the shop yesterday "cleaning up" the home engineering solutions on the WD-9. Figured I would show what can happen with a grinder and a lot of time. I apologize for some of the "what is this" or "where does this go" questions, but I got it midproject last summer from a fellow member.

Seat before

PTO Shield after

I got a little carried away with the cutoff wheel, but I will just weld the slots up and grind them back down. It's my body guys problem after that. I got the square tube off the seat post, but a PO welded the rear most bolt completly solid (you can see it if you can figure out what I am talking about) They also went nuts with the welder up front. It also looked REALLY worn out up front before they came up with this "solution." I hope I can find a good seat post because this one will be tough to salvage.
I also bent the snot out of the bracket thing that holds the post. That looks to be the same as about every letter series tractor out there so it should be cheaper and easier to get a good used one.

What does this broken off bolt hold? My guess is the thing that holds the PTO lever/arm in the right position. Kind of a bad picture, that is the PTO right below. Picture taken from straight above.

What is really supposed to be here? I broke my 1/2" drive Craftsman ratchet and bent up my breaker bar trying to get that left hand bolt out. It is still there for now.

What is this rod/lever thing? It is left of the steering column. Choke is off and on the right side of the column. It is way too small to be belt pulley rod and the tractor doesn't have one. I'm out of guesses, but I bet I feel dumb when somebody says what it is.

Looks a complete seat assembly is what you need, shouldn't be to hard to come by. Your are right that twisted off bolt holds a small piece of strap metal 2 or 3 inches long to hold the PTO rod in place. Not sure what is correct for draw bar support, none of my 4 are the same, a W9,SWD9,600,650. But is time for the torch and a bit of heat that should get that bolt out. The rod in ther 4th picture is the starter rod, hooks to the short lever on the starter.

The problem is there are not a lot of WD-9/W-9s here in SE WI. We have a good local yard that had one. He wanted $30 for a worn out seat. I told him no thanks and I am kicking myself for that now. It would be better to rebuild a worn seat than reconstruct this one.

I went to Jim Johnson, Haskens Tractors, and Franzen Family Tractors in Miles and Monmouth, IA. No luck there on anything I needed. Franzen's had two gas tractors, but they wern't much more than a rear end and engine tub. There was a guy scrapping some out by Austin, MN. I contacted him, but never saw a picture of a seat assembly. I should probably try to find him again.

If anybody has a good seat assembly, battery box support, or drag link I would be interested. Some of those parts might get a little big/heavy to ship, but I am sure it could still work.

The drag link is bent up pretty bad and has a big wear hole in it. If I can find one reasonable I might be better off to go that route.

Drag link is straight in the area of that wear hole, it does have a couple of factory bends, just make sure it is staight at the wear hole and weld it up. Leave the other bends be. Had to weld 2 of mine.

The local parts place here has a w 9 he is parting out you could give him a try. Artichoke Lake Tractor Parts (altp) just north of correl MN call Forrest Johnson @ 320-596-2208 if he dont answer leave a message he usually returns call sometimes it takes a few days.

I am parting out a WD9 at this time, I should have a good steering drag link and battery box holder. The hole in your drag link comes from front tire hiting it in tight turn. Your stop could need to be adjusted.

The steering is SUPER sloppy also. That could be adding to the issue.

I sent you a RPM pm on the parts.
