aircraft tires on 454/464/574/etc. ?

I"ve been using aircraft tires from Gensco on the front of my Ford and I love "em so I"m thinking of putting some on my 454 with swept-back axle. But I note that the 6.00x16"s on there now barely clear the spindles and I"m wondering if there"s a size that will fit. The ones on the Ford are definitely too wide, and also a bit low (the 454 is so low already I don"t want to lose any more clearance). Is anyone here using aircraft fronts on that family of tractors, and if so, what size? Thanks.

Aircraft tires are generally of wider and lower profile than farm tires. I doubt that you can find a aircraft size compatable to the 600 x 16. I suggest you stick with regular front tractor tires.

This source has used (non flyable) tires. I found a 6.25X16 that might do. A flange spacer might be needed, or rims with different offset. Jim

Teakettle, I have run Airplane tires or about 20 yrs on my 966, my first set were a little close. My current set, I found a new set of Aftermarket HD rims with a closer "Back Set" distance, No Problems at all. Got mine from the local tractor salvage yard I deal with mostly! Hope this helps.
