460u hydraulic question MVC?

My steering is gone in the 460U, the wheel freespins as noted in another post.

I have seen lots of posts about the steering and the MCV, could this be my problem? FYI, my loader and rear fasthitch raise and lower just fine.

It seems more gear box related, it gave out over time and after changing the fluid it is gone altogether, steering wheel free spinning now.

Is it worth trying the 5 gallons of extra hytran in the system?

A friend had this same problem on a 350 u. He had no hydraulics or steering after changing the hy tran oil. Turns out he had to bleed the air out of the system via a bleeder valve on the pump. Hope this helps.

The extra fluid only helps large frame tractors (IIRC) the fact that it spins free is the key. See below in the other post. Jim

Jim is right, here and in your original post. Power steering on the 460U is an assist, it uses the same gear box as tractors without power steering (or at least similar). If the wheel spins freely something is broken.

Crap, OK, Thanks, at least i know what i need to do.

The trick is going to be getting it my side yard with no steering (you can push the tires and it will make the tractor turn, so i can offload the loader. Get that out of the way. Then get it back to my garage.) Fun fun

Thanks guys

The 460 does not have hydrostatic steering. Something has come allose or broken in your sateering system.

Who knows, maybe it's an easy fix once you get the gearbox out. It might be something just fell apart.

You covered your problem yourself when you said LOADER . You have a broken steering box and when you open it up you will find a FEW EXTRA pieces and parts . So now you are on the hunt for a 460 U steering box .
