I have this 1951 M with the Lambert Discs...They are shot...What does one have to do to replace with the drum system...I have a parts tractor with drums.

Remove the brake drums and shoes. Remove the adapter splines that slide on the bull pinion and brake shafts. Install the parts on the 51 M off the parts tractor in reverse order of removal.
Only problem that there should be is if the parts M is early enough to have keyed brake drums. May want to put new oil seals in also.

Thanks for reply. The parts tractor was made in 1948. What specifically do I look for to determine if they are keyed brake drums?

1948 will have a splined shaft from the transmission to mount the brake drum. You should have no surprises converting other than cussing at it!

Thanks again...I use these tractors...I'm not yet into prettying them up...Just a practical use in beating back thistle/weeds and trying to restore pasture. Oh! I do like Farmalls and learning how to get out of messes.

For reference it was only the first two years (I'm sure somebody will let me know if I am wrong) They are 1939 and 1940. I actually don't think they were that way for all of '40.

That is my view. The correct police can gripe elsewhere. M at the house will probably get a generator along with LED headlights (I here the cringing now, LOL).
