F-20 Fuel Tank

The main fueld tank on some of my "Parts Tractors" have a second drain "Tap" on the bottom of the main fuel tank. It looks factory. What is it for?

I alway thought is was just that. A drain hole.

In Australia the second hole is for fuel return on AW-6, AW-7 and A554 Diesel tractors. These machines used the AD264 direct starting diesel motor. That is, they did not start on petrol and change over to diesel. Not sure if the U.S. specification diesels had the return line? So far as I know, it was easier to make one tank and blank off the return hole for petrol and kerosene tractors.

The F20 was never made in a diesel in the US. I'd
guess maybe a stationary power unit application
where they used a fuel pump and needed a return.
