This morning I was mowing with the h. I came to a spot where i had to back up. Well, when I went to shift out of reverse the lever wouldn"t gop back to neutral. I pushed it back forward and tried to pull it back again. I did this a few times, I put it back in the reverse position, and let the clutch out a little and it felt like i was in two gears. I have heard of that happening to people, any thoughts? It looks to me like I have to pull the cover off to get things straightend out. Any thoughts?

Been awhile but there is a horizontal pin or pins down on the casting just below the shift lever. Punch that out (I think it is an inner and outer pin), then you can pull the shift lever off. You will see 3 small shifting forks with a slot in each one. Center all 3 so that will it be in neutral. Ten to one 2 of the forks are not centered. The end on the shift lever gets worn with time.

This happened to my super H. Pull shifter and align slots with screw driver. I think the dimensions for the shifter head is in the archives. Have some build up the shifter that knows how to weld cast and you will be ok.

the C does this occasionally. I can block the wheels and jack up one of the rears so I can rock the wheel, this will take pressure off of the tranny. the c will shift.

If you pull it out, here is a pic of what the end should be like.
