1486 TA Won't shift. Think its the cable

I dropped my 1486 down into low TA and when I shifted the TA back to high it did not shift up. First thing I thought was that something happened to the TA. Drove it back to the shop and got to looking and noticed that the plunger that goes up and down on the MCV valve stays up so that should be low TA. I can move the handle back up in the cab to high but the plunger does not move so I am thinking cable or is there something that could be holding the plunger from moving? Is it a hard job to change the cable? How is the cable attached to the plunger? Very hard to see under the cab to see what is going on. Thanks for any help.

One of two things most likely. First, the 90 degree link on end of cable adjuster broke off, second, cable slipped in one of the clamps on either end. Just have to pull left side hood to get at upper end and work through battery cover step to get at lower end.
