140 year of manufacture

I bought a 140 today and the serial number plate is gone but the engine is serial number 74702 can anyone get me close. I would say it has to be after 1964 because it has decals and not emblems. Thanks in advance for the help

That number engine if original came in a september 1958 tractor.

The serial list says first engine for October '58 was 76340, which supports your September 1958 answer. However, I think there was a transcription error in the serial list and the number should be 70340. That would be more consistent with the serials listed for 10/58 for the F-240 and I-240. I would also be more consistent with the November numbers for all 3 tractor models (including 71399 for the 140).

See the number out of place after you pointed out the problem. Looks like march of 59 was when the engine was installed.
